The percentages of vote share for each
party -
46.7% Conservative (2013 = 34.9%)
12.5% UKIP (28.2%)
10.7% Labour (13.1%)
10.5% Liberal Democrat (11.3%)
9.2% Green (8.9%)
10.3% Others (3.6%)
Thus, Conservatives up (+11.8%),Greens
up(+0.3%). UKIP down (-15.7%), Labour down(-2.4%), Liberal Democrats down
(-0.7%)
In summary, the Conservatives gained
from UKIP, whilst the other main parties were more or less static in the
support they attracted.
Rochford District, in the last twenty
years, has been Labour-led. Now, there are no councillors from Labour on the
council.
The opposition to Conservatism is split,
thus making their task somewhat easier. Also, Conservative supporters appear
much more easily persuaded to actually vote.
