The three-day old trend

Waste ground, right next to the High Street

For the second week in succession I had the privilege of meeting a three-day old resident - a trend is developing here. Not that I mind, of course.

I found overwhelming support for Labour, with no Tories or Lib Dems, and a supporter each for UKIP and the Greens. This admittedly weird snapshot does not fool me - I know that there are many Tories in Milton ward. However, I am convinced that if we could persuade everyone to vote then there would be a v ery healthy majority for Labour.

It was a bit chilly to be sure, but I still was warmly received. Conversation topics included cockroaches, nightclub noise, anti-social behaviour, and that ever present favourite - parking.

There is some waste ground right next to the High Street, at the junction  of Chichester Road and Whitegate Road. I have no idea who owns it, but it has been like it for quite some time. It is in a prime position, so something could be made of it I am sure.

  2. Suggestions Julian: get a council officer to use the Land Registry access to find out who owns it (or do it online yourself for a couple of quid). If no record of current ownership ask the adjacent properate owners and tenants what they'd like to see there. Community garden / allotment? Open space for drug taking and White Lightning swigging? I know where you mean and I bet you'vem already thought of all that anyway. Good luck to you for 'beating the bounds' of the ward, as always. Martin.

  3. I have passed this plot many times and it would be a great place for a couple of goats to graze.
