Response number one from my new Conservative MP, and I am underwhelmed

So, I write to my (Conservative) Member of Parliament on the 7th -

 Dear James Duddridge,

A new bill to ban wild animals in circuses in England is being presented THIS WEDNESDAY, 10 February, and we need your urgent help if it is to have a chance of succeeding.

I urge you to support Conservative MP Will Quince’s Ten Minute Rule Motion: Wild Animals in Circuses (Prohibition) Bill.

Yours sincerely,

Julian Ware-Lane

Today I get this response -

Please find below a standard reply from James Duddridge MP

Thank you for contacting me.

If you have an issue which you would like me to help you with, please ensure you have included your name and full address so I can ensure you are a constituent and write to you. If you have previously provided your address, my apologies however I will need you to confirm it again for Data Protection reasons. If you are enquiring about an event invitation or tour of the House of Commons or Big Ben, please call my office on 01702 616 135. Finally, if you are writing in regards to a campaign you will most likely find a response to your concerns on the ‘Issues’ section of my website, which is detailed below.

Thank you for taking the time to write to me and for reading the above.

Yours sincerely,

James Duddridge MP

Data Protection Act 1998. How the information you have provided will be used: Some data I receive

The suddenly terminated caveat at the end of the email is somewhat intriguing (what about some of the data he receives?) My original email did include my address (which most certainly is within Mr Duddridge's Rochford and Southend East constituency).

The reply is two days after the opportunity he had to stop wild animals being used in circuses, and does not indicate whether he bothered to vote, let alone if he supported the end to this cruel practise.

This is the first communication I have had with my new MP since moving constituencies, and I am underwhelmed.

  1. Julian,
Just found you new blog - apologies that I don't look at it every day. I wondered why there were no posts after 1st February on your old blog.
You've obviously moved from Nelson Road!
Please let me know if you'd like to visit any of the 6 Winter Night Shelters in Southend East, but please note that we finish on March 18th. You'll not be surprised that neither MP has responded to my invitation.
    Regards, John Simmons (Shelter Co-Ordinator).
