The latest on the cliffs stabilisation project (adjacent to Clifton Drive)

After making some inquiries I have received this from an officer at Southend-on-Sea Borough Council :-

... the draft of a letter which I intend to distribute to residents of Clifton Drive and adjacent apartments concerning completion of the cliff stabilisation works there.

I am writing to update you on the proposed completion of the cliff remediation works which have been ongoing for an extended period in the slope below Clifton Drive.  All of the work associated with the installation of the plant pit behind the restaurant development has now been completed and work will proceed normally to complete the slope regrading and installation of the proposed cascade and pathways to the west of the shelter and final surfacing of all the new footpaths.

The contractor has now been able to review his programme for completion of the project and the total completion date, including clearance of the site accommodation and traffic control, is Friday 2nd September 2016.  The Council’s Parks team will then take over the site and complete the planting scheme during the Autumn.

We know and apologise that these works have extended well beyond the originally planned completion dates and appreciate very much the forebearance that all residents have displayed in this regard.
